Mr. Counterman has established a distinguished career spanning two decades with Disney, where his expertise in video technology and live entertainment has set new standards within the industry. Since 2018, he has served as Manager – Video Systems Design for Disney Live Entertainment. In this capacity, he oversees live entertainment and video systems integration at Walt Disney World on the East Coast, managing a team responsible for projection, LED engineering, media server programming and signal routing. His responsibilities include overseeing budgets, attending high-level concept meetings to discuss projects, costs and technology choices, collaborating with content creation partners and applying practical skills during field visits. In recognition of his collaborative spirit and technical excellence, Mr. Counterman was part of the team that received a 2025 IAAPA Brass Ring award for “Most Creative Winter Holiday Production”.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Counterman was a Video Systems Designer for Disney Live Entertainment in Orlando from 2014 to 2018. During this period, he played a pivotal role in advancing the use of cutting-edge video technologies in live shows and attractions. Faced with challenges posed by ship movement and vibrations affecting projection technology, Mr. Counterman led efforts to implement advanced LED wall technologies—an unprecedented solution at sea at that time. This innovation resulted in a scenic vision reminiscent of traditional theater while ensuring ongoing performance reliability for onboard teams. The enduring success of this show, which remains active on its original ship and has been adapted for newer vessels, stands as a testament to his engineering insight and creative leadership.

Mr. Counterman’s academic background includes coursework in broadcasting, which provided him with foundational knowledge essential to his professional growth in entertainment technology. He further enhanced his expertise by earning the Q-SYS Video 101 Training Certification from QSC LLC in 2020—a credential that underscores his commitment to staying current with evolving industry standards.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Counterman attributes much of his success to the guidance of exceptional mentors and colleagues who generously shared their wisdom throughout his career journey.
