EPP guides manufacturers toward high‑performance Senius Technology

As demand for natural, wholesome breakfast products continues to rise, granola has firmly secured its place as a staple for health‑conscious consumers.

But while the product may appear simple, producing granola at scale — while maintaining consistent colour, crunch and quality — remains a technical challenge for many bakeries.

European Process Plant Ltd (EPP) is working closely with manufacturers to bridge that gap, advising on equipment solutions that enhance efficiency without compromising product integrity.

EPP provides a complete, end‑to‑end solution for granola production, covering ingredient reception, handling, mixing, baking and cooling. The company’s engineering and applications teams work with customers to specify systems that match their throughput, footprint and flexibility requirements. This consultative approach ensures that bakeries can optimise their lines for both performance and control.

At the centre of EPP’s recommended set-up is the Senius steel belt impingement oven, a technology designed specifically to deliver the uniform bake that granola demands. The oven’s precise heat transfer and airflow management ensure even colour development and a consistent crunch across the full width of the band — critical factors for premium granola lines. Available with gas or electric heating, the system is engineered for low energy consumption, supporting manufacturers’ sustainability and cost‑reduction goals.

“Senius ovens give producers the accuracy and repeatability they need,” explains Steve Merritt, managing director at EPP. “Granola may look simple, but achieving consistent colour, crunch and quality at scale is anything but. With Senius equipment, we enable bakeries to take full control of the process while improving efficiency and reducing energy use.”

The oven integrates seamlessly into a wider granola line, where EPP ensures that upstream and downstream processes are equally robust. This includes controlled mixing, even product distribution onto the steel band, and rapid cooling to lock in texture before packing. Systems can be tailored to suit a wide range of capacities, from emerging brands to high‑volume industrial producers.

Senius tunnel ovens are already installed in production lines worldwide — often in as little as one week — and are used across multiple bakery and snack applications, including cookies, crackers, pastries, pizza, pet food and more. For granola manufacturers, this proven track record offers reassurance that the technology is both reliable and adaptable.

“Our role at EPP is to make sure customers have the right technology and the right support to produce high‑quality granola reliably and consistently, batch after batch,” Merritt adds. “We’re here to help manufacturers scale with confidence.”
